Remember these cute photos I was posting around the holidays?!? 🙂 We had so much fun working with Mandy Leishman owner/operator of Lemontree Photography that I had to repost to let you know that they will be having Valentine’s Day minis coming up February 4th here in London ON.

West 26 Salon and Spa

Motherhood, Travel

The peace, quiet and relaxation you’ll find at West 26 Salon and Spa is ideal for those who want a break from it all. With my life being hectic these days—preparing for our new baby’s arrival, launching another business and being a mom and wife—I was exhausted and in total need of rest.

West 26 Salon and Spa was the perfect place for the break I needed! Clients are welcomed to come as they are, even straight from work, shower if they wish and take the time to enjoy their preferred service. As spa owner and aesthetician, the message was clear, the welcome sincere; Alaina wants you to feel at home.

Alaina treated me to a spa manicure and pedicure along with a spa facial and relaxation massage catering to my needs as a pregnant mama. The services that she provided were above anything I have yet received here in London. The absolutely best facial I’ve had to date and my skin actually glowed for a week!

Being a dermalogical specialist, Alaina also educated me on different products that I could add to my skin care regimen. Her friendly advice and services were incomparable. I know you will be impressed with her services just as much as I have been.

As Valentines Day approaches, Alaina wants to do something special for all of you. She is offering a spa manicure, pedicure and customized dermalogical facial (all of my favourites!!) for only $115! This promotion is only available during the month of February, so whether it is for your loved one or yourself, this is the time to purchase a gift certificate. Just stop by the Spa or call and make your booking.

Baby Ella's Room Reveal

Fashion, Motherhood

Moving Ella to her big girl room was exciting and yet had me thinking of how fast this past year has flown by! What a pleasure it has been to get to know my beautiful not-so-baby girl Ella, to admire her budding personality and to adore her 101 expressions. This project was a lot of fun for me and I think Ella had a good time watching her Mommy decorate a big girl room just for her.

When decorating Ella’s room, I wanted to let her personality shine through. She is very much a girly girl and always points to her dresses so I thought it would be perfect to decorate with the very things she loves. I hung her little wedding gown on the wall along with her shoes and flower crown for decoration and displayed some of her lovely headpieces made by Little Lush Boutique from her 1st birthday and another one she wore to our wedding. On an accent shelf I have displayed her special bracelet handmade by Kim Smiley.

I knew a reading nook was a must for Ella’s room as she is always “reading” her books and now has quite the collection. She will pull out different books to read each day and sit and flip through pages with a lot of “ooouuu!” and “ahhhh!” and all her cute little baby babble. It is wonderful to see what a kick she gets out of her books. 🙂 I found the canopy from Bed Bath and Beyond, the rug and the decorative pillows from HomeSense. This little nook has been a comfortable spot we have made use of everyday.

Behind Ella’s crib, my brother offered to paint an accent wall for Ella and then we placed a piece of art I found at HomeSense above her crib. I wanted to keep it simple! For the final touches I found a perfect sized chandelier from Ikea that has beautiful hanging crystals. Every morning when I come in to get her from her crib, it’s the first thing she points to. I also found bed sheets and a comforter from Ikea **Note, for safety reasons, I only have the comforter in her crib for the photos.** I’m still going to save it for when she’s a bit bigger but when I saw it I knew it would work well with the colours of her room. 🙂 The white blanket hanging over her crib is from HomeSense and also just there for the post.

As you can see from the photos, Ella is pretty proud of her new big girl room. All I needed was to see her big dimpled smile and I knew I had it right. She warms my heart! 🙂

I hope you all enjoyed watching her big girl room unfold. I can’t wait to get started on our next decorating project! I think our Master is the next on the list! 🙂

What is "Empathy", Mom?

Fashion, Motherhood

What is “Empathy”, Mom?

This was the question my son asked when I gave him the pin that I had brought home from my visit with Kim Smiley.  “Empathy means to put yourself in someone else’s shoes and imagine how they are thinking or feeling,” I said. I then asked Owen if he would like to wear this pin and learn how to practice Empathy every day? With a big grin across his face and a simple “Yes Mom”, my heart filled with hope and pride.

I later showed Ella her pretty little bracelet, and another one made by Kim Smiley, for her baby sister who is on the way. Although I won’t be able to explain their meaning for some time yet, one day I will be able to share with my daughters that these pretty pieces of jewelry represent strength and hope for many.

Kim Smiley, a Mom, Artist, philanthropist and Entrepreneur founded Sappho, a collection of handmade jewelry made by women working towards self-sufficiency. Besides being a beautiful and useful collection of jewelry, when you purchase a one-of-a-kind piece from the Kim Smiley line, you are also creating employment opportunities for women and empowering them with training and a living wage.

Inspired to give back further, Kim started The Empathy Effect—a non-profit organization that gives 15% of the proceeds from every pin sold to a charitable organization that carries out its work with empathy. “The remainder of the funds will be slated for education, programming and social welfare projects,” Smiley promises.

As we walked through Kim’s showroom, she showed me artwork that she had created—each piece telling a different story, sharing memories with me of how she grew from creating artwork to creating beautiful pieces of wearable art, her jewelry. She then gifted me with a stunning cuff, two beautiful bracelets for my daughters and the Empathy Pin which I gave to my son. I also purchased a pair of earrings for myself as an early birthday present, and although I was excited to have something so beautiful from her collection I was even more delighted that the profits were going to a great cause.

It was an absolute pleasure to meet Kim.  When it was time to say  goodbye to Kim and her son Sam, I left feeling a sense of “we need more people like her in this world.”

This post is a little past due but I unfortunately came down with a bad cold towards the end of the Christmas Holidays and all I’ve been doing besides taking care of my little monkeys is trying to get some rest. Being sick while pregnant is probably the worst… am I right?? Thank goodness for humidifiers and essential oils!

In 2016, with our children, friends and family by our side, Rick and I said “I do” and became husband and wife. I don’t think I have ever cried so much in one day… from getting ready to walk down the isle with Owen and Ella, to almost kissing my husband a million times before saying “I do” ( we could hardly wait) to sharing a special moment with Owen by the fireplace at the end of the night. The emotions that came along with that day will always be memories I cherish for the rest of my life.

My husband and I checked off ITALY to our bucket list, decided to add one more baby to our mix, and started our separate business ventures. It has been a huge learning and living process and I’m feeling incredibly excited for whats to come.

2017 will be an exciting year for all of us. My Natural Bath product line is about to launch, Rick is quickly gaining clients for his web design business and the most important of all, we prepare for our baby girls arrival. We moved our little Ella to a bigger room ( only fair that the older sister get the bigger room right? : ) ) and I’ve really enjoyed making it her own. I will definitely be sharing a before and after once completed.

We wont be doing too much traveling now before the baby comes BUT we have been invited back to Mont Tremblant this winter, so we couldn’t say no to that! Plus its not too far away if our little princess decides to come early.  We have also been invited to… get this… NYC!!! I’ve planned that trip for after the baby J and perhaps a way to spend our 1 year anniversary. NYC is my absolute favourite place in the world and I cant wait to share our time there with all of you!

Having this blog and being able to connect with such a great community of people online has really been a blessing for me! If there is anything that you want to read more of Fashion, Food, Mom life… ANYTHING… Please let me know! I’d love to hear from you! 🙂
