Wich is Wich

Food, Motherhood, Travel

A couple weeks back my friend Melissa and I met at Wich is Wich a proper sandwich and super shop in the heart of downtown London. I ordered the Ploughmen’s board, a selection of local pickled veggies, roasted meats, local artisan cheeses and freshly baked bread to create the ultimate sandwich. Melissa ordered the Jerk Chicken Sandwich (this sandwich was the size of my head) and not overly spicy.  Everything was so delicious, I had to come back in to try out their dinner menu.

Wich is Wich reminds me of a restaurant you’d find in NYC. A spot business men and woman choose for lunch to fill up before heading back in to the office. At night, the restaurant turns in to the perfect spot for a date or family gathering.

For dinner, we started with the Red Pepper Prawns. You could hear the chefs giggle at little Ella’s “Mmmmmmmm’s” and “Yummmmy!”.  Rick ordered the Halibut with lemon saffron potatoes. He loved it!  I ordered the Manhattan Roast with braised vegetables, slow cooked beef pastry and NY prime. The Manhattan Roast is thoughtfully plated with textures & flavour in every bite.

Whether it’s a lunch break or night out on the town, Wich is Wich will quickly become your favourite sandwich and supper shop.

Post Baby Workout with Andrea Merucci Hsiung Featuring Jill Yoga Activewear

Fashion, Guest Blog, Motherhood

Good morning everyone!

This morning I’m teaming up with Andrea Merucci Hsiung owner and founder of ANDFIT Training Studios to demonstrate some great exercises that you can do at home post-baby!

Before we get moving —>! 🙂 Everyone partaking in any form of exercise should always check with their doctor if it is safe for them to do so. Please make sure your doctor or primary health care provider has given you the green light to resume exercise after having a baby. We strongly recommend that you also see a pelvic floor physiotherapist to make sure you do not have any pelvic floor issues or an abdominal separation. In case this interests you ( I know I need more info on this! ) we will be doing another post on how to rebuild your core after abdominal seperation on the next fitness post.

Lets get to it!

1) Squats

Squatting is one of the best ways to build up your strength after you have had a baby and also a great way to build back your core safely. Make sure to coordinate your breathing to engage your core properly.

Your feet should start a little wider than shoulder width apart. Bend your knees while keeping your chest lifted and extend your arms in front of you. As you lower you should be inhaling.
Exhale to engage your core then press back to standing and repeat.
Complete 12 repetitions of this exercise 2-3 times

2) Squat and Kicks

This is a great cardio and strength move that will help you get your heart rate up and also help you engage your core and work on balance as well. This is the perfect Mommy combo exercise.

Your feet should start a little wider than shoulder width apart. Bend your knees while keeping your chest lifted and extend your arms in front of you. As you lower you should be inhaling.
Exhale to engage your core then press back to standing then as you stand kick out one leg to the side making sure you engage your core to maintain your balance. Bring your leg back to the starting position squat again and then as you stand kick out the opposite leg to the stand. Making sure you inhale as you lower and exhale to stand and kick.
Complete 20 total kicks, 10 each side and repeat 2-3 times

5) Push Up

Push ups focus on the the muscles in the chest and back and arms, it is a great exercise that many mothers can benefit from, especially because we often carry or hold our babes for long periods of time.

Start on all fours and have your hands directly below your shoulders and your knees should be behind your hips and your back is angled and in line with your neck. You should be looking slightly in front of you. As you bend your elbows to lower your body down, and inhale as you lower. Go as low as you can then exhale and push back to your starting position. Repeat for as many reps until you can do 10 then repeat 2-3 times.

3) Glute Bridge

This exercise is a great way to strengthen the glutes as well as your core postpartum. Start by lying on your back with your knees bent and shoulder width apart, arms beside your body. Inhale to prepare and as you start to exhale engage your core and press your hips all the way up engaging your glutes. Hold for 2 secs and inhale as you lower your body back down to the floor.
Complete 12 repetitions and repeat 2-3 times

4) Oblique Heel Touches

Start by lying on your back with your knees bent and shoulder width apart, arms beside your body. Then slightly lift your head off the ground and reach down towards your one ankle on the same side, and with the other hand reach towards your other ankle on the same side and continue to repeat for a total of 20 reaches. Complete this for a total of 2-3 set. This is another exercise that helps tone and strengthen the obliques.

My Holiday Makeup Look with Caryl Baker with tips from makeup expert Amanda Jahn

Fashion, Motherhood

Since I’m really no makeup pro, I thought it would be fun to get my go-to makeup artist Amanda Jahn in on this blog to share some tips on how to use the Holiday inspired makeup I received from Caryl Baker! You’ve seen her in my Instagram Stories and she makes this tired mama look and feel amazing! She is also incredibly sweet and lets me feel comfortable taking care of the girls during our application. I really love this girl!

Today we used Caryl Bakers Lip stick in RUBY and liner in CANDY APPLE Eye shadows in STONE & SHRINE

What we both really noticed about the lipstick is that it’s moisturizing! That is key for me because my lips often dry out and there is nothing worse then lipstick on top of cracked lips. The eye shadows are gorgeous and super easy to wear from day to night.

Here are some makeup tips from the expert:

  1. Prep your skin before any makeup application by keeping hydrated, exfoliating (face and lips) and moisturize!
  2. Do your eyes first and complexion last so that you can remove any excess eye makeup thats fallen.
  3. To make your eyes pop, add some highlighter in the inner corners of your eye.
  4. Line lips first before lipstick for flawless application.

Want to shop this look? Head on over to Caryl Baker. I can’t wait to see your Holiday look! 🙂

Miss Ella Turns Two

I had the pleasure of meeting Melissa Vandermeer owner of Party Girls Co. when Ella was about 6 months old. We decided to meet after chatting a few times through Instagram. Our connection was instant and it was one of those “I like you, let’s be friends” moments and we’ve been close ever since. When Melissa asked if she could put together Ella’s dessert table for her party, I was delighted! I am always blown away by Melissa’s creativity and I knew what she put together for Ella would be incredible. I was right, the table was perfection!

From the handmade décor to the cake and treats, everything looked beautiful and was equally delicious! I’ve never had a cake look so pretty and taste so good. Melissa exceeded my expectations and gave our little girl a 2nd Birthday that we’ll always remember!

Thank you again Melissa. X0x0
